Trauma & Complex PTSD Therapy in Dallas, TX

Start With a Free Phone Call:
I offer a free phone call (903-662-8735, ashleyk@ashleycounseling.com) so we can talk through what you're navigating and see if we're the right fit—and yes, I actually return phone calls. Having trained associates for over 20 years, I also have an extensive network of referrals and am always willing to connect you to the right therapist if I'm not the right fit for you.

People likely describe you as capable, independent, and dependable—the one who shows up to work, handles responsibilities, and keeps everyone else steady. Yet behind the scenes, it has gotten harder to hide how exhausted you are from holding it all together. When you have lived through early childhood wounds, relational betrayal, relationship violence, or overwhelming loss, your nervous system adapts to keep you safe. Those survival responses once made sense, but when they stay switched on for years, you cannot simply "talk" or think your way out of them—or you would have by now.

Over my 25+ years in the mental health field—including serving as Program Director for an inpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment center, counseling families at a domestic violence shelter, and working in private practice in North Dallas—I have helped adults untangle the deepest roots of complex trauma. Because trauma is stored in the body and nervous system rather than just the logical mind, I combine top-down insight with bottom-up, body-centered healing, including EMDR, Somatic Experiencing (SEP), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Clinical Hypnosis, and Expressive Arts Therapy. Whether you prefer weekly 50-minute sessions ($225) or an accelerated Therapy Intensive to move through months of work in a focused timeframe, our work is collaborative and paced to your nervous system.

What Trauma Therapy Helps With:

• Complex PTSD & Early Childhood Wounds: Childhood emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, emotional neglect, and growing up in chaotic or unpredictable homes.

• Attachment & Relational Trauma: Betrayal trauma, relationship violence, codependency, and repeating painful relationship patterns.

• High-Functioning Anxiety, Burnout & Overwhelm: Chronic hypervigilance, perfectionism, people-pleasing, emotional numbness, or feeling stuck in fight, flight, or freeze.

• Dual-Diagnosis & Recovery Support: Trauma intertwined with substance abuse recovery, compulsive coping, grief, or major life transitions (supported by dual licensure as an LPC-S and LCDC).
