When you experience trauma, chronic stress, or attachment overwhelm, the impact does not live only in your story—it lives in your physiology. Long after an event is over, your autonomic nervous system can remain trapped in an unfinished survival loop of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. You may notice it as chronic muscle tension, shallow breathing, digestive distress, restlessness, sudden emotional flooding, or feeling completely shut down and disconnected from your body.

As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200), I use Somatic Experiencing to work directly with your body's felt sense. Developed by Dr. Peter Levine, Somatic Experiencing gently tracks bodily sensations, micro-movements, and nervous-system shifts to help your body complete the protective responses that were interrupted or overwhelmed in the past—without requiring you to retell or relive every detail of a traumatic memory. In my North Dallas practice and online across Texas and Colorado, I weave Somatic Experiencing together with EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, and breathwork.

What Somatic Experiencing Helps With:

• Chronic Nervous System Dysregulation: Feeling stuck in high alert (hyperarousal, racing heart, insomnia, irritability) or shutdown (exhaustion, numbness, collapse).

• Healing Without Re-Traumatization: Gentle titration and pendulation techniques that release stored survival energy without forcing you to recount overwhelming memories.

• Physical Manifestations of Stress & Trauma: Unexplained tension, bracing, gut or chest tightness, startle responses, and somatic panic triggers.

• Deepening EMDR & Parts Work: Pairing bottom-up Somatic Experiencing (SEP) with EMDR and IFS so cognitive insight and physical relief happen together.
